LAS SOBRINÁCEAS -- The nieces' / nephews' ones

Nos invitaron al bautismo de mi sobrinita Lola. Aparte de los regalos comprados, ¿qué podría llevar?
Sí! Acertaste!   

We were invited to my little niece Lola's baptism. Apart from the bought presents, what could I take?
You guessed right!!   

Yo había estado jugando con la técnica de "migas" de Bonnie Hunter. Los colores de la tela eran lilas suaves, rosas y azules claros, celestes.
Y también estaban los molinillos. No tenía idea de cuál podría ser el tamaño de la cama, o cuna, o donde fuera que durmiera,  así que decidí hacer una manta del tamaño casi de una cama de una plaza. Así podría usarse para extender en el suelo y jugar.

I'd been working on Bonnie Hunter's "crumbs" technique. Nice soft lilacs, pinks and light blues. And then there were the pinwheels. I had no idea of the size of the bed, or crib, or whatever, so I decided on an almost twin size quilt that could be laid on the floor for her to play on.

Pero claro que su hermano y su hermana no podrían recibir menos, así que me puse a hacer sendas mantas para Agustina y para Facu. 
but then, her brother and sister could receive no less, so I set out to make one for Agustina, and another for Facu.

Las chicas primero. Entonces OK, primero Agustina. Y yo tenía ese 
turquesa brillante y ese otro algodón con las hojas marrones sobre fondo turquesa. Hice molinillos. Terminé la parte superior cuando me enteré de que su color preferido (cómo podría saberlo, tenía 13 años!!!) era el rosado!!!
Dejé los turquesas apartados y empecé de cero. Esta vez con una "cadena irlandesa". Rojo sobre rosa. Con triple marco alrededor. Al final, no está mal.
Girls first, so O.K., Agustina first. I had this very bright turquoise and the brown leaves on a turquoise background. So I made pinwheels. The top was finished, when I come to learn that her favourite colour (how would I have known-- she was 13?) was pink!!!
I left it aside and started anew. This time it was an Irish chain. Red on pink, with three borders. Not bad, after all.

Y la de Facu tenía que ser masculina, en tonos azules claros y oscuros. Escaleras? Sí. (se les llama escaleras?). En esta no quedé tan contenta con los bordes. 
Facu's had to be a boy's quilt. in light and dark blues. Ladders? Yes. Ladders (are they called ladders?)  Here I was not so happy with the  borders.

A las tres les puse etiquetas bonitas y quedamos listos para viajar a Argentina y llevárselas a los chicos. Pero... era pleno verano. Así que las mantas les gustaron mucho, pero a 32ºC, ¿quién podía estar interesado en probarlas? 
I made nice labels for the three of them, and we were ready to travel to Argentina and take them to the kids. But... it was high summer. They liked them, but at 32 degrees celsius (89,6ºF) who would want to try them?

       

Posteriormente vi fotos de las camas de los chicos en invierno y estaban puestas en las camas, así que estoy contenta. 

I've seen later photos of the rooms in winter and the quilts were on the beds, so I'm happy.
